Summer Reading Program
The theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program is Unearth a Story™! Join us at Duck Creek for lots of fun events and programs, and log your reading to win prizes at the end of the summer! Summer Reading is for all ages, so whether you’re 0 or 102, you can sign up to participate in the challenge from May 23rd to August 8th, 2026!
Age Groups and Challenges:
- Family Readers (Ages 0-6): Read 20 books as a family
- Independent Reader (Ages 7-12): Read 12 books
- Teen Reader (Ages 13-18): Read 10 books
- Adult Reader (Ages 18+): Read 10 books

If you prefer to log your reading on paper, stop into the library and pick up a paper reading log for any age group!
Prizes for Challenge Completion
Note: Summer Reading Challenge must be completed with Duck Creek to win the prizes listed below; prizes and programs offered at other Delaware Libraries will vary.
- Children 0-6 will receive a goody bag and a free book at the end of the summer.
- Children 7-12 will receive a goody bag and a free book at the end of the summer.
- Teens will earn 3 raffle tickets for every 2 books they read until they hit the required number of books to complete the challenge (10).
- They will have the opportunity to earn an additional 3 raffle tickets for every 1 book they complete past 10. The highest this bonus can go is 20 books.
- Teens can also earn raffle tickets by attending the teen summer events and performances. Some teen performers include Delaware Museum of Natural Science Mobile Museum: Dino, Dino, Dinos, Brandywine Zoo, and Cascading Carlos. Teen events require registration.
- Starting on the finale, August 15th, 2026, teens can redeem their tickets and choose their prizes arcade-style. You have until August 29th to pick up and redeem your tickets!

- Note: Each type of prize is offered while supplies last.
- Upon completing 5 books (halfway through the challenge), adults will win 1 raffle ticket to spend for the chance to win one of 7 raffle baskets. Upon completing the challenge by reading 10 books, adults will win a free book voucher to our Friends bookstore, and another raffle ticket.
- For every extra book logged, adults will receive 1 additional raffle ticket. Adults can receive up to 5 extra tickets.
- Raffle baskets will be available to bid on beginning at the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, August 15th, 2026, and prizes can be redeemed from the 15th to August 29th.
